INTRODUCTION
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults provides for a personalised
process of introduction to the faith and life of the Catholic community. It is
particularly appropriate that we have a handbook for the local parish
community, providing step by step guidance for this process.
This updated version draws on the experience of welcoming people into
our Catholic community in parishes throughout our diocese in the years since
the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults was first published in 1987.
We hope you will find this handbook helpful in the wonderful task of nurturing
the faith of those who seek to follow Christ as members of our Catholic
